Take the WEEE Challenge
How do I select an appropriate PCS?
Finding the appropriate PCS when the membership offers are so varied can be confusing, especially if you are a producer of both Business to Consumer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B) EEE. However, by understanding some of the basic requirements, becoming compliant is a fairly simple process.
There are PCSs that are specific to B2B and B2C and there are those that do both. The golden rule when deciding on the appropriate PCS for you is to do comparisons and ensure when you do them that you are comparing “Apples with Apples”. Cheap initial offers may seem good but it’s the costs that are not declared that you need to be wary of.
Don’t be fooled by statements such as:
- “It will be too expensive to run your own scheme”
- “It is much cheaper to be with a single scheme for B2B and B2C”
- “We are the preferred PCS for your particular sector”
- “We have the cheapest membership fees”
- “We are the largest compliance scheme”
- “We are a not for profit organisation”
- “WEEE Compliance from £3 per tonne” etc
